    If you can't boot into your hard drive with his hard drive simply attached, his drive is dead. If you can get as far as your BIOS and get into there, with his drive attached see if your BIOS can see his drive. If you can't get into bios with his drive attached or your bios can't see his drive, I see no other explanation than his drive is dead.

    I can get into my BIOS with his drive attached but what can I do in the BIOS to help?

    As soon as I try to boot into windows (safe mode or not) With his hd attached, I get the BSOD.

    Look under storage configuration or something similar and see if you see his drive, or look under boot options and see if his drive is seen by bios. Make sure your drive is listed as first hard drive to boot from. Try putting DVD/CD as 1st boot device and your drive is second boot device. While still in bios, put the Installation DVD in the DVD drive, then save and exit bios.

    I just tried that and I do see the usb hdd option and I put to boot from cd dvd but machine skips it and tries to boot to my OS even if i disable the option to.
    Im almost giving up on this hd at this point

    It seems that is probably the answer. The drive must be dead.

    Did stopcode 50 occur just a few days ago. You installed the 12 windows updates (patch tuesday August). Computer rebooted and did config the patches....no problem. Next boot you get stopcode 50. Is that what happened? If so... I have the solution.

    I am pretty sure that is what happened and saw these reports from upgrades but other could still boot somehow or restore to restore point and I couldnt so thats why I disnt relate it.
    Can you share your solution please?
