BSOD Online Radio & Using Outlook Now & Again Minidump attached

    Hi guys,

This has been driving me mad for over a year now. Just now and again my Windows 7 desktop will go all funny and make a weird "electric static" sound and BSOD. I have finally been able to get the minidump and hope that you can help me.

There was never any big changes made like new hardware or anything and it was happening so I decided to update some older drivers but obviously now this has not been the fix I was hoping for. I also was getting the BSODs now and again before updating any drivers and it has turned out to be roughly the same frequency of occurrance even after the updates.

I thank you in advance for any help given

    Thanks

This happened again today but the BSOD did not appear it simply made the "electric static type" noise through the speakers and multi colours appeared on screen. When I restarted it did not seem to create a new minidump file. Baffled.com

    Hi there

Sounds to me like a poor connection somewhere or Electrical system not "Earthed" correctly. Ensure also you don't have a "Hot" chassis (case) - this can (although it shouldn't) happen if the Live and Neutral on the mains is swapped round -- these days an "Isolating" transformer in the PSU will prevent that happening but on some older equipment and self builds it's always possible. One of those Cheap neon "Mains testers" should be part of your toolkit.

Check all connections, perhaps a little "Engineers Bash" of the case will also fix the problem !! - otherwise it's certainly a piece of hardware going defective.

    Cheers

    Hi Jimbo,

Thanks for your reply. I have checked this out on the PSU. It is roughly 3 years old from eBuyer.co.uk but seems fine. There doesn't seem to be shorts or the like. I am thinking you might be right that it is some of the hardware but which piece. It is so hard to trace, my problem is, I don't know how to read the minidump files

    Cheers, Ryan
