explorer.exe crashing

    explorer.exe crashing


    Every now and then, explorer.exe crashes and wants to restart, once this does that once, it does it about a dozen times, its when I right click on my desktop...

    Uninstall anything that has added to the right click menu.

    ATI and/or NVidia driver packages come to mind. If you like the functionality, then consider this only a test.

    There is nothing added to the right click menu.. I do have an ati graphics card, but only the drivers and not the software...

    the only items added to the right click menu is when hovered over the recycle bin.. they are ccleaner and tuneup utilities shredder

    its not happening all the time, just every now and then, the last time was 2 days ago

    Alright. Seems good then. Try from elevated command prompt:

    sfc /scannow

    Will fix/repair errors in system files and replace with known good copies. Specifically, msvcrt.dll is of interest here.

    I ran a scan and its reply was

    Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
