Win7 Pro x64 - BSOD, error 0x0000001E including in Safe Mode
HP Pavilion P6000 series running Windows 7 Pro x64. At this point I'm pretty sure it's a physical problem with the HDD but Googling "0x0...1E" doesn't turn up much relating to a dying HDD.
The computer blue screens at the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen every time, including in Safe Mode. Safe Mode w/ Command Prompt blue screens as well. Because of that I can't get to the minidumps or run a System Restore.
I'm trying to run ChkDsk from a boot CD as we speak.
Tried physically removing/swapping RAM DIMMs but that did not resolve it.
The BSOD is extremely generic...
Any ideas before I go purchase a new HDD and reinstall everything from scratch? Thanks!A problem has been detected with Windows and hags been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space (there's > 360 GB free). If a driver is ID'd in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode blah blah blah.
