Just want to report, I have the same problem. Randomly I get a "Windows explorer has stopped working" and then "Windows is working to correct (or something like that) the problem". Running professional and a clean start. Nothing out of the ordinary in the way of hardware.....late issue Alienware Area-51 computer. Will keep checking to see if someone has a fix to this annoying problem.
I have the problem of window explorer ( window 7) stop working with no reason, is this the bug of window 7?
Hi guys, I posted a solution early in this forum and it has helped one person. After a lot of research about the explorer crashing problem, I have come accross a web site, it gives instructions to delete a registery entry. THIS HAS WORED FOR ME, I have tested my system out after deleting the entry and restarting my computer and have not had the crashing problem again:) If it does crash I will let you all know but fingers crossed.
Follow my instructions:
1. Click start
2. Type regedit and hit enter
3. Go into the following - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - Microsoft - SQMClient
4. Then you should see an entry called "MachineThrottling", BACKUP YOUR REGISTERY (file, Export etc...) and DELETE that entry.
5. Close the Registery Program
6. Open My computer right click on the hard drive that Windows 7 is installed on
7. Click Tools Tab
8. Click check now (make sure the top box is selected - fix file system errors) and OK
9. Restart your computer
This has worked for my system and hopefully it will work on yours. If you need help just leave a reply and I will try my best to help out:)
When I removed Logitech Setpoint 4.80 dated May 2009 and then it didnt any crashing with error message but I will keep watching if it come up or not so think it either Windows 7 itself with some bugs and awaiting for hotfox patch to come up plus there could be older version with out of date for hardware drivers for mouse, keyboard,etc.. so remove if it much older date and wait for new one to come up - any drivers in October date then it will be ok but older than August or later then dont install cos it may cause problems with Explore.exe (ntdll.dll) to crashing a lots.
we cant do anything at the moment until the hotfix patch from Microsoft is release as it look like to be bugs in Windows 7 itself that may have cause by 1st updated when it was released so just hold on until the next update is release - that what i think it same as Vista SP2 in June and then fixed in July/August
When I leave Firefox 3.5 web browser open all time and keep open and use open other application software that seem working that could be tricky - Ive reinstalled Setpoint 4.80 but install by run as admin so that seem ok -- it may happen with error message to come up anytime.. but still think still some bug in OS at the moment so just keep hang on until update is ready... hope it before Xmas time.
I was wrong, the mouse driver did not do a thing, I'm still getting the right click explorer crashing/not responding issue. However, the right click crash only happens after I log onto windows 7 hp x64 and I do a right click on the recycle bin or any folder or file, it does not happen a second time.
