    Hey Everyone,

I'm running into the same problem as well, and it seems rather random. At first, it was crashing Explorer after my computer came out of sleep mode. After a few minutes, it started responding normally. However, after I plugged in my PSP, Explorer started crashing when I right-clicked the desktop again. I disconnected my PSP and tried my 16 GB flash drive, and the same thing occurred. While they were not plugged in, Explorer began behaving again.

    [edit]

I'm running Win 7 Professional x64. I don't seem to have the throttling registry, either, so I'm out of luck there.

Hmm. Looking at my performance logs (I BSOD'd the first time I tried to load the Advanced Settings in the Performance control panel), there are several critical warnings with regard to USB driver response latency when coming out of sleep, booting, and shutting down. This lag in the USB drivers couldn't cause the problem we're all experience, could it? When Explorer was misbehaving the other day, I attempted to load Device Manager to see if there were any conflicts going on, but it simply causde Explorer to crash (ntdll) in addition to right-clicking on the desktop -- which says to me, it's a driver issue of some sort.

Here's my BSOD info, if it is at all helpful:

    Code:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
      OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48
      Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
      BCCode: 7f
      BCP1: 0000000000000008
      BCP2: 0000000080050031
      BCP3: 00000000000006F8
      BCP4: FFFFF80002CFB12B
      OS Version: 6_1_7600
      Service Pack: 0_0

I'm also am having the same issues..running windows 7 ultimate x64. I can go a week without it happening and then there are days like today where it has happened 3 or 4 times already. I haven't done anything different today than any other day. Sometimes it's after right clicking desktop and other times it'll pop up after i've closed a program. I wish there was something out there to fix this...all the other possible fixes have not worked for me.

Just a follow to my recent post.

I dont hav the throttling registry entry either (Win7 32 Ult) so didnt try that.

But stopping realtime protention (av) in Bitdefender seems to stop the problem. The right clicks start working. Then I can restart the reltime protection.

When I get time Ill probably try and remove BitDefender to see if the problem goes away entirely. Then reinstall it.

I think that the AV is somehow conflicting with explorer. Why is started only after 2 weeks of use, who knows.

But of course maybe Im totally wrong. Love this trial and error stuff...........

if right click on desk top causing crash........window 7 has very bad conflict with bitdefender.you just go to bitdefender setting and just disable your antivirus realtime protection for a minute.your problem will be solve.after that you can enable your bit defender antivirus real time protection

I mentioned about Firefox 3.5 with private browsing switch off also i didnt noticed Kaspersky also fix the problems as well (I used KIS 2010 with version 736) and add critical fix with "a" on it so think it fix the problem - it hasnt been any crashing for few days seem it now sort it out. Look like there some software you install that need to fix the patch like AV or anything else but still need to get some fix from Microsoft as well so maybe come up soon.

I was getting right click crashes all the time. I disabled private browsing in ff, AND after discovering some serious page faults in sidebar.exe (29 million of em in 13 hours), I shut off gadgets one at a time until the page faults stopped, they were all 3rd party gadgets, except the monitoring cpu/ram module, and that still causes the page faults. So for now, I have sidebar disabled, and no exe crashes YET.. Only been a few hours, so Ill report back later.

So I've tried the above mentioned as i am running avast.. and so far no crashes...but we'll see there have been a lot of falsies..see how it goes in the next couple of days

    EDIT: that didn't work either..lol
