    BSOD when computer is idle - Uncorectable Hardware Error

    I have been getting these blue screens at random times when the computer is idle. This is a brand new machine. The tech that built it has already replaced the memory modules hoping to solve the problem, but it didn't do the trick. I have never had it throw the blue screen while I was using it, always while idle. I have uninstalled any program that I thought might be an idle time user, but the BSOD is still there. I have tried reinstalling drivers and have had windows look for newer drivers for all hardware. Unfortunately, I don't have much more info than that. I have attached a photo of the blue screen and I am attaching the SFdebugFiles. I am happy to send any additional info or answer any questions that may help with debugging. At first this only happened a couple times a day, but it is now blue screening after only 10-15 minutes of idle time.

    Hi there,

    You have received a STOP 0x124 which usually points to a hardware fault. Looking at your dumps though the file thermald.exe has appeared, this belongs to Gigabyte crapware (usually System information Viewer - SIV) and has been proven to cause 0x124 BSODs.
    I notice you have some Gigabyte software installed, can you confirm whether you have SIV and which other Gigabyte programs you have installed?

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
    A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error
    source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
    WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error conditon.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000000, Machine Check Exception
    Arg2: fffffa800e5a0028, Address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure.
    Arg3: 00000000bf800000, High order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.
    Arg4: 0000000000200401, Low order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.

    Debugging Details:
    ------------------

    BUGCHECK_STR:  0x124_GenuineIntel

    CUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT:  1

    DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID:  WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT

    I had ALL the gigabyte software on there. However, I read an article about that software causing problems and I uninstalled it all. I did a search for thermald.exe and the file was not found, so I am assuming it was deleted with the gigabyte software uninstall. The machine hasn't blue screened since I uninstalled, but it hasn't been long enough to definitively say that the problem is solved. I will let you know if the machine stays stabile. Thanks for the reply.

    Good work, the thermald.exe not showing up is a good sign and it looks like uninstalling the Gigabyte crapware has removed it. That should solve your issues, please do let us know how you get on.
