ok thanks I will let you know how it goes tomorrrow
it crashed while doing the updates 50% through. then it started continually coming up with explorer not working in safe mode so I have. fomatted the SSD drive started a clean partition and am loading windows again....it wont get ride of the problem I doubt but what is the best way to go about the set up.....should I download drivers first from website or use CD or should I do windows update first????
ok I did re install installed the LAN driver from disk and the chipset from website which it let me do I ran SFX /SCANNOW and there are no errors. I will do windows update then do the memtest
bizarr after i installed the chipset driver I did another sfc scannow and it found corrupt files
I really don't know what could corrupt the files except some times a BSOD will do that. I realize you have a custom build, but it makes no difference. The process is the same. Follow this tutorial. When you go to install updates, check them and install about 20-25 at a time. Just uncheck the boxes of the ones you don't want to install. When the first group installs, install the next group of 25. It takes longer, but is easier on the computer. Just follow this tutorial. Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 The only driver to install is the Lan driver if Windows does not install it for you.
Should do i need to reboot after each memtest and run from disk again
may i ask what your suspicions are so far - if it is the motherboard could you recommend a replacement maybe on ebay, I see there are a few there but not sure what is compatable friends helped me choose all the parts for this one
When you run memtest, run it for a minimum of 8 passes without stopping it. If you stop in and start again, it runs the same test over again. Each pass tests something different and each test in that pass tests something different. It takes 8 consecutive passes to fully test the ram. More passes are better.
At this point, I'm not sure. I thought the motherboard, but Then started thinking ram. But, it could be anything right now.
