Blue Screen & issue with Ati Mobility Radeon HD5650,ATIKMDAG.SYS ERROR

Hello guys this is my first post in this forum
It took me sometime to find this forum and by the looks of it i think somebody will at least respond to my query ,if not get it solved

I Own sony vaio Laptop VPCEB26FG Model
around 10 days back i got bluescreen on it but i solved the issue on my own at that time i got error which said your Driver has just been recovered .now again i got the same BLUE SCREEN but this time it is not letting me use my laptop in normal mode ..right now am logged in safe mode and typing from same laptop
previously when i had the blue screen issue i did the diagonistic hardware check and it showed no issue with any of the hardware .. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my video drivers
My desktop is also not working but its been like that from 1 year i never bothered to get it right ..
Please tell me what can be the issue with my laptop ??

The BLUESCREEN SAYS --- ATIKMDAG.SYS ERROR
then it says collecting data from crashdump 1%.....so on and it restarts ..my laptop is currently working in only safe mode ..

I forgot to mention last time when i had same issue my laptop used to get switched off after exact 30 mints ..but this time nothing as such has happened till now .
i reinstalled windows last time ..but even after that i felt something was not right and i think the memory usage was always above 2gb but i continued to use the laptop till today and now again this bluescreen issue

ATI is indicator that there is a video card driver having a problem, BSOD usually gives an error code, shown as 0000000000.... that info could be valuable troubleshooting the problem.

I will say that my quick look shows that the model is from 2010, and age wise with a lot of use, could be hardware failure related which would mean time for a new laptop, and from a cost perspective, not worth saving.

2 gigs of RAM in use with Windows 7 is a normal low use load, I'm using 2.22 gigs right now as I type this on my rig.

Safe mode works fine because it uses a generic driver with hideous performance, but functional.

Looks like you need to just remove the ATI driver series fully and then reinstall a known good one and reboot, you can go into Safe Mode and add remove programs and hopefully get rid of the Radeon driver there, and then reboot Windows into normal mode with just a generic driver and do that install.

Get the official fare from here:

Support for VPCEB26FG : E Series (VPCE) : VAIO? Laptop & Computer : Sony India

    Select the Downloads tab there.

    Hi Manoj..

I am facing the same problem as exactly you had faced.. I have installed the driver update software from the link you have shared. My apprehension is that it is asking me to update the Intel Chipset host controllers, bus controllers and Express root ports.. Did you update all these for your problem to get resolved? The AMD Radeon 5650 display driver is already updated and not present in the list provided by the update software.
