    BSOD APC_Index_Mismatch

Hello. This BSOD happened as I was coming out of the screen saver. The message was "BSOD APC_Index_Mismatch." I've had five other BSODs in the past two months, but this is the first one in a while. I had thought they were related to a utility (Listary) I was using and dropped because one BSOD seemed to be caused by it. The only other thing I can think of that might be related is some "successfully reloaded graphics driver" messages that I was having for a while.

I have recently moved from Avast to Panda antivirus. I do use a couple of utilities including MenuTools and DirectFolders. If there are references to "failing fan" messages, it's because instead of a processor fan I have a fanless cooler. Please let me know of any other information that can be helpful to you.

    Thanks in advance
    Les

    Hi Lestrad.

Install Service pack 1 and all other windows updates. Otherwise the system will remain vulnerable to threats.
    Code:
Windows 7 Kernel Version 7600 MP (2 procs) Free x64
    Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS
    Built by: 7600.16385.amd64fre.win7_rtm.090713-1255
Report us for any further BSOD after installing Service Pack 1.

I hesitate to install SP1 because of various issues I have heard of concerning it and because I had a very bad experience with XP SP3 back when I was using XP. I don't want to doubt your advice, but leaving security concerns aside, is there something you saw in my data that suggests to you that SP1 might remove the problem? If so, is there a specific update that is part of SP1 that I can install without installing the entire package and possibly having unforeseen problems? With XP SP3 all my USB ports stopped functioning and I was never able to really uninstall it.

Thanks very much for your help and please excuse my wariness.

You have to install not only SP1 but also all the important (optional ones are optional) updates. That is not an option but a must. Otherwise you will continue to experience issues.
