    BSOD when using video

    My four year old Acer Aspire began getting BSOD last December, even after reinstalling Windows 7. I stopped using it until September 2014. I started it up one day and it began to work ok so I began to add new programs and it continued to work normally. This month it began crashing again. It seems related to using video and now it usually gets BSOD when opening Firefox. So there isn't much I can do with it now. I would like to know if it's fixable and how to do it. I have attached debug zip file. Thanks

    Code:
    BugCheck 1E, {ffffffffc00000ff, fffff80002cb47fc, fffff88005d45e9c, fffff88005d471e0}

    Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!RtlRaiseStatus+18 )

    Followup: MachineOwner
    ---------
    STOP 0x0000001E: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

    Usual causes: Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS
    Code:
    BiosVersion = V3.03
    BiosReleaseDate = 11/30/2009
    IMHO you should first attempt a BIOS update, as it is old enough and there is a scope of update. Apply the BIOS Version 3.10 there and see how it goes.
    Let us know the situation.

    Ok, thanks for your reply. I've never updated the bios before but I guess I just run the windows exe, KAWF0310.exe. after unzipping the file.
    I downloaded it to a usb stick on my netbook because the Acer is getting so unstable. The Acer is freezing now when doing most anything, would it be better to do this in safe mode? If so I will plug usb stick it in the Acer and attempt to run it. I hope it will do that much.

    Well I did update the bios ( it could not be done in safe mode). Then I connected to the internet and it crashed when opening Firefox. So it looks like no change.

    If you are concerned about a BSOD, there was no BSOD after 22nd.
    In this section of the forum, you will get BSOD experts, not the networking experts. They work in another section of the forum.

    Let us know for any further BSOD.

    I'm still getting BSOD. I did a system restore last night would that make a difference? It was back to the 22nd. I just was online on the Acer responding to your post and I got the BSOD.
    I'll check with the networking experts I guess.
    Thanks for your help.
