Windows 7 Freezes on heavy network usage

Hi everyone I just got myself a new computer and put windows 7 on it. Everything seems to work great until I installed utorrent on and start some bt downloading. As soon as the downloading starts and get some speed, windows will freeze and I'll have to hard reboot the computer. I use a PPPoE broadband internet.

I have tried reinstalling windows, update all the drivers and bios, changing to different bt client such as bitcomet, and browsed around the forum for similar matters but it didn't help.

Please help me on this issue as I live on downloads.

    Thanks

Good job on the troubleshooting. Unfortunately, since you've already ruled out the palatable (BIOS and driver problems), only the unpalatable now remains.

I'd suggest a completely "vanilla" reinstall of the OS (no antivirus, no OS updates, no apps... nothing at all that's not on the Windows disc). If the same thing happens, try updating the NIC driver to the latest version provided by the manufacturer. If it's still the same - get yourself a different brand/model of NIC.

Torrenting is just about the heaviest networking activity that most hardware will ever see. Altough that doesn't cause any issues for healthy hardware, it's logical to expect that the heavy workload will potentially expose defects in not-so-healthy NICs.

If you can borrow a NIC from somewhere to test before spending money - so much the better.

I just reinstalled to windows xp and the bt program works fine now.

But then I found another problem, my xp freeze when i have too many things opened, I am start wondering is it some hardware problem now.

Can you advise me on how to check whether my hardwear is working fine.

I have ran prime95 and it works fine, how can I test my memory and video card?

In my experience the video card wont cause the computer to freeze unless there are heating issues. You're right to assume its the memory. One of the best applications to test memory is memtest.
