BSOD on startup after windows update, 0x0000007E

Hi all, last night I installed Adobe Reader 11 and around 30 windows updates on my Thinkpad T410. Everything was working fine until I rebooted today. Now I'm getting a BSOD on startup right after the windows logo, with this code (screenshot attached):

Startup repair fails. Chkdsk runs fine, no errors. SFC won't run due to a 12mb pending.xml file. I've tried disabling services and drivers from Safe Mode but no dice. All my system restore points have mysteriously disappeared, perhaps related to this error in the event log:

The shadow copies of volume c: were aborted because the shadow copy storage could not grow, due to a user imposed limit

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Uploading output of DM Log Collector from my T410.

Using bluescreenview I determined the problem was with an Avast file aswsp.sys. From safe mode I uninstalled Avast using Avast's util (avastclear) and voila no more BSOD! Windows Update gracefully rolled back the failed updates and my system appears to be running normally. Wanted to thank you guys for all the super helpful troubleshooting tutorials. Saved my butt!

Ben, thank you! I've been at this all week and you saved me! I finally managed to get into safe mode and used command prompt to add reg entries for msiserver. After rebooting in safe mode again, I could uninstall avast. Boom! Good to go! Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
