Windows 7: Got a BSOD during system restore and now I can't boot

Got a BSOD during system restore and now I can't boot

I did a system restore and in the middle of it I got a blue screen. When the system restarted I got a black screen with a cursor and nothing else. No log-on screen.

I'm using Windows 7 and it infuriates me that it doesn't offer any kind of repair install like XP does. I've had nothing but endless problems ever since upgrading to this crappy OS. I tried startup repair which failed. When trying to use system restore from that menu, it failed with an application error of rstrui.exe.

So basically:

I can't do startup repair because my system technically boots even if it doesn't start up right so startup repair recognizes the boot as successful.
I can't do sfc /scannow because a system restore that will never complete is pending.
I can't do a repair install because it will only let me do that from the desktop which I cannot get to.

Please, what do I do?

Windows 7 is the best operating system ever made

Do you own a windows 7 install dvd ?

If so, boot from the disc to do a system restore.

An upgrade is not the best way to install windows 7.

I have the Windows 7 install disc on a USB. And didn't I tell you in the title of my thread that System Restore is what caused my system to be unbootable in the first place? System Restore doesn't work, most likely because the last one that borked my system is still pending. I get a rstrui.exe memory error.

An upgrade is not the best way to install windows 7.
I'm not trying to install my Windows, I'm trying to fix it.

Windows 7 is such a great OS that the registry hives are not even stored in the System Volume Information folder anymore that I can't manually replace them in the event that System Restore breaks. I totally love this broken OS.
Were it not for these severe shortcomings I might not have to post here at all.
