Windows 7: BSOD: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE when going to sleep

19 Jan 2015   #1

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I've had an intermittent BSOD issue that started in late 2012. I finally got tired enough of it that I searched to try and find out the issue. Today, I just used Malwarebytes program and it didn't find any real threats. I also saw someone having my same issues that was caused by a McAfee file so I downloaded their uninstalling program to wipe it clear. I'm not sure if that fixed my issue yet but I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to fix this problem.

See the attached log file.

Well; from what i can tell(and i am not a 100% exper on bsod's but will give it my best shot) this sounds like it could be something having to do with the power management settings not wanting to apply themselves when you click the apply button. I would try first going to the support site for your motherboard mfr. and seeing if there are any bios updates etc for your board; then even if there arent any bios updates; i would try and also look for the most recent chipset drivers and download and install those. Chipset drivers pretty much help identify what pieces of hardware are attached to your board both factory installed(on the system board itself) and ones that are attached via cable(s). I would give both of these things a shot and see if that does anything for ya. If still no resolve post back and we can go from there. Once you install any updates for the bios and or chipset(if you do install any) after that go into your power management settings for your system and set them the way you want them and see if the issue is resolved. If not post back and we can go from there

BIOS is the most up to date version according to HP. Not sure where to find my chipset driver/s? Is it device manager > system devices, then look for chipset ones?

I've got the following:
Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 1 - 1E10
Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 2 - 1E12
Intel(R) HM77 Express Chipset LPC Controller - 1E57

They have driver dates of Jan 2012 but when I let Windows automatically look for updates it says it is the latest. I found one on Intel's website that looks newer?

Just try to disable Bluetooth in Bios and if you cannot find it there, you could try to disable it from device manager, disable all bluetooth under device manager. Sometimes that is the real culprit. Also run sigverif from Run and give us the result.
