Random BSOD and memory dumps. Not sure of cause

    I did as you said and at first I had thought that this had fixed the problem but it would seem I still have been getting occasional BSODs with no dump file to show for them.

    I wonder where a recorded dump will go. I will ask for some more eyes here ... lest I am missing something.

    Do you have a folder in C:/windows named Minidump? If not, create one. Maybe that is the problem.

    Also, please run a full scan with MSE as well as these online scanners.

    Scan with Kaspersky TDSSKiller:

    Hi,

    I did all of the things that you said as well as provided pictures. I also took a screenshot to show that the minidump folder exists and provided a picture of my last BSOD which was earlier today before these scans.

    Markrly, you still do not have any dump files. Please try this

    Follow these steps:

    1. Configure Windows to create minidumps:
    Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

    2. Set the paging file on C: to be the same size as the physically installed RAM:
    Virtual Memory Paging File - Change

    3. Set the Windows Error Reporting service to MANUAL:
    Services - Start or Disable

    4. Test to see that dump files are created:
    - Open Windows Task Manager
    - Navigate to the Processes tab
    - Right-click on explorer.exe, and click Create Dump File

    - Note the location of the saved file



    - Check that location and confirm that explorer.dmp exists

    Please follow essenbe's excellent advice and answer this question for me.

    Did you do any of the suggestions on the restart Blue Screen (disk space, driver, video adapter, BIOS vers, BIOS mem options...)

    You're in the middle of a process with essenbe
    - don't change anything based on this post - just let members know if you did any of those things.

    I'd like to see more details about your system:
    Please follow this tutorial to provide the current operating environment of your machine.

    Please post information about your drives, partitions, and volumes.

    Okay, I did all of the steps you listed and the log file was created. What else would you like me to do?

    Startybart, I haven't done the things suggested on the restart blue screen. I really didn't know where to start. I also got all of the information you asked for and will post it below:

    If you have any of the Gigabyte Utilities installed, uninstall all of them. I would like you to put your hardware in your system specs. That makes it much easier for us. These are the instructions I usually give.
    Please fill out your System Specs

       Information
    Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

    If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs


    We often have to look up components and these system specs help a lot. We would like the Manufacturer and model, including the PSU and CPU Cooler.

    Have you had any BSODs since completing the instructions from the last post?
