Older computer occasionally crashes when booting.

Hey all I have an older PC and i think it is starting to go on me. It often crashes when booting. sometimes i get a bsod some times not. I have just reainstalled.

PS. one of the ddr3 ram channels is bad and will crash if there is ram in there (there isnt currently).

It appears your HDD may be failing.

    Code:
    NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM (24)
If you see NtfsExceptionFilter on the stack then the 2nd and 3rd
parameters are the exception record and context record. Do a .cxr
on the 3rd parameter and then kb to obtain a more informative stack
        trace.

    No joy

I ran chkdsk and seatools and they both said the hard drive was fine...

Corrupt memory will corrupt the disk data and the disk utilities only repair file structure errors not data errors. You might try and get through the System File Checker (SFC) to make sure the OS files aren't corrupt.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Scannow also says everything is fine... does it help to mention that the computer is very stable when running. just intermittently fails to boot?

I noticed a couple of entries in your event log that look suspicious and a questionable Start Up entry. Download and run the Emsisoft Emergency Kit. It's a portable program so no install is necessary but you need to update the signatures from the EEK main screen. It will deep-scan your system for malware.

Copy and paste the log from the run here.

That looks good. It was just speculation on my part. I back Gav's assessment of the possible failing hardware.
