    Random BSOD error driver ntoskrnl.exe (address ntoskrnl.exe+74ec0)


    Hey guys so I've been getting some random BSOD errors every few days or so. I usually leave my computer on when I am at work or sleep and either when I come home or wake up my computer is off. So I turn it on and it says that the computer didn't shut down properly when I start up. I downloaded the BlueScreenView and noticed I've had some BSOD three times within 10 days. One was a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error which I believe was a RAM problem (i bought new RAM and installed it plus OCed it to 2133, but I believe it was making my system unstable so I reset the speed to default and haven't gotten that error again), but after that I've gotten two IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors related to ntoskrnl.exe. I did some research online and from what I read it could be a number of problems. I'm just not sure where to start and could really use some guidance and advice. I uploaded my dmp files for anyone who knows how to look at these.

    Uninstall ASUS AI Suite III and test the system for stability.

    Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

       Note
    Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.

       Warning
    Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them, if the temperature continues to rise steadily once it has reached 80°C be prepared to stop the test so as to not damage your GPU.

    So here are some of the results so far...

    1. Tried to upgrade the Netgear wireless adapter and installed successfully yet it wouldn't connect to my SSID so I uninstalled it and am using just the windows driver for the adapter just so I can get online and update you guys. Also I realized my keyboard driver wasn't up to date so I tried installing that but it also failed.

    2. Now I uninstalled AI Suite III, ASUS Boot Setting, ASUS Web Storage, ASUS Utility, and ASUS Utility/R-T-N12B1.

    3. I ran Seatools on my SSD (samsung 830) and also my HDD (seagate). On the SSD I ran the Short DST, Short Generic and Long Generic and all failed with test code 6C9AC2A4 and I'm not too sure what that means. i ran a Short Generic and Long Generic on my HDD and passed both. I will upload the view log for you guys to see.

    4. Now I tired doing the Memtest86+ and followed step by step instructions for booting with a USB but when I go into BIOS and set USB as primary boot my computer freezes at the slash screen and the Memtest86+ doesn't start.

    5. Haven't gotten to my GPU yet...

    It seems like my BSOD is just the beginning lol. Any help on what to do next I greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

    Can you run chkdsk on the SSD please. Disk Check

    Can you try another USB stick an dport, or create a bootable CD and try again?

    DaemonTools

     Uninstall DaemonTools



    Apologies, I forgot to post this first time round.

    Uninstall Daemon Tools, a proven cause of BSODs.

    1. Uninstall Daemon Tools.
    2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and perform the following steps.
    3. Double click the executable to open it.
    4. Click the button shown below.



    If the button it is grayed out as shown in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system and you can just close the window.

    After going through Boozad's suggestions, you need to monitor your temperatures as well

    Clean out the inside of the PC with a can of air. Ensure all your fans are working and that there is proper air flow to the CPU (also check CPU fan), also make sure there is thermal paste between the fan/cpu (not too much).

    After removing Daemon Tools, I would also recommend running some Malware/Virus scans

    Remove Anvisoft with Revo Uninstaller

    When using Revo: Select Advanced option > Select All/Delete All on both scans

    Now here is my bit of a ditty to do memtest and you must follow it to the letter I know it is tedious and tiresome but if it is some memory problems then it is all worth it

    MEMTEST
    The memtest you will need to make a bootable disk / stick and set the BIOS to boot from the optical or USBand it will take a fair time to run- some leave it overnight. see the attached document.
    But one thing is very important you must let the test run for at least 8 passes any less and the findings are no good.
    Now if errors come up straight away then you can stop it - see my pics. Plus if there are errors and you have more than one stick of RAM in then you will need to test each stick ie remove the sticks and replace stick 1 in slot 1 and test no errors do the same in slot 2 with stick 1 no errors then repeat the process with stick 2 - that will show up the faulty stick - the other thing is it could be a faulty slot but most unusual.
    It is a very lengthy and tedious process but worth it if you have errors. If you jhave four sticks and slots then you are in for the long haul.

    PS Menat to add use a dsik it is much simplet in my experience and as yu are haing problems with boot fro a stick - better still.


    One other thing is the PSU see this
    Using HW Info
    PART A:
    You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages.
    Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.

    The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
    FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
    PART B:
    Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

    Some more updates.

    1. So I ran chkdsk check on the SSD everything passed no problems.

    2. I also removed Daemon Tools no problem no SPTD detected.

    3. I also ran Furmark for over two hours GPU never got over 71 C and no artifacts so that's good.

    4. I reapplied thermal paste on my CPU.

    5. Now for the Memtest. I finally got it to work booting from the USB. After 3 passes it failed and gave an error and froze. So i restarted my comp and am now testing each mem stick one at a time. Currently testing stick #1. (ram setup 2 x 8 GB)

    It would make sense that the BSOD is caused by my memory as I just upgraded my CPU, GPU and RAM all within the last 30 days or so. So since memtest detected errors does that mean I definitely have a faulty RAM stick? If so I'm guessing I need to RMA product correct?

    Also after I figure out the RAM problem I will definitely get to running Maleware/Spyware problems listed above. Thanks for the speedy advice guys really appreciate it.

    Yep, if MemTest86+ is showing errors there's a problem with either the RAM or the slot, it's just a case of testing the sticks individually like you're doing to figure out what's bad.

    If the output is like this then you have bad RAM so the stick(s) need replacing.

    No code has to be inserted here.

    If the output is like this then you should replace the motherboard, however you can leave that DIMM slot empty although it's not advised to use a system with a faulty motherboard.

    Hey guys I just got a quick question. So I'm testing my RAM right now and first stick passed in slot 1 no problems. Now I check my motherboard manual and it recommends when I only have one RAM stick to use slot one, but is it ok to use slot 2 with only one RAM stick to test even though the manual recommends to use slot 1 for one RAM stick? I'm guessing it is ok because then how would I know if I have a faulty RAM or SLOT but just wanted to check with you guys.

    Edit: I ran Kaspersky TDSSKiller: Detect / Repair TDSS Rookits no detection found.


    I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free and found 34 treats. I uploaded them to a txt as I'm not sure if any or all of them are false positive and haven't removed them yet.

    @Gator you said "Remove Anvisoft with Revo Uninstaller" but I'm assuming you meant Avast? Because I don't have Anvisoft.
