Sorry...I have updated my blog entry with comments, but didn't update here.
I have determined it is something to do with going into hibernate mode.
If my computer has gone to hibernate mode, this happens when it comes out of hibernate mode.
I have to kill explorer.exe or reboot to make it work.
I had a feeling that this could be something corrupt in the registry. Disable Hibernation first and if disabling that does not work, maybe you should look into, scanning for viruses, changing your antivirus, or using a registry cleaner such as CCleaner that can help remove corrupt registry entries and clear junk files that also slow the system.
Corrupt registry entries do slow or make things in the PC harder to work.
No, it isn't corruption. It isn't a virus, trust me. It is just a flat out bug (with either windows or a hardware driver) that only occurs after waking up from hibernation.
I can do a clean install of Windows 7 and duplicate the issue immediately by going to hibernate and waking up.
