I don't speculate on the ability of different antivirus suites - its worst then getting into an argument with a creationist.

All I can tell you is that there is evidence for Avast causing your BSOD. If you want to be to be BSOD free, then act on the evidence. I only suggested MSE because I have never seen it cause BSOD's, and I've looked at craploads of BSOD's. You are welcome to try whatever antivirus suite you like.

Haha that's fair, I've had bad experiences with Antivirus software so I just wanted to be sure. I'll give it a try and see how that goes. But I might change browsers too, my hard disk is almost at 100% because of Chrome.

The only cause of the BSOD identified in the .dmp file is Avast, so I'm not sure how changing browsers is going to help.

Well the last BSOD was just due to an Intel driver. Nothing about Avast. I'm just saying it might also help to remove the browser because the issues with this laptop have been hard drive related, hence the last BSOD being due to a rapid storage driver and Avast may have been running a scan or something in the background in conjunction with chrome's already heavy use on my drive.
