    BSOD While Browsing Web *UPDATED*

    Hey Forum,

I was watching a video on YouTube and last thing I knew my laptop BSODed and I got the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. I uploaded the files for people to check. Im using a Dell Inspiron laptop. I believe all the info is in the zip file. I had to cancel the msinfo portion of the DM Log Collector as it was stuck on CD-ROM

*UPDATE* I restarted the laptop and I restarted DM Log Collector and it got through the msinfo portion, the new file is uploaded

See if you can update the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) software from the Intel site.

If not, remove it as follows:

    1. Uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    2. Uninstall the driver from device manager:
    - Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
    - In the "Computer Management" window that opens:
    - Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices.
    - Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
    - Select one Intel device item under it, right click, then uninstall.
    - Repeat the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
    3. Now restart the computer.
    4. Once booted, Windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.

I tried updating the software but the Intel site was so cluttered I had no idea what was the correct version. I researched online and I apparently didn't need the software and some people reported faster bootups without it. Its interesting that it's a RAID software and my laptop only has one HDD and one partition. So I removed it and the drivers but once Windows booted it installed an Intel driver on its own that I had removed like you said. But it added two more SATA drivers. So far nothing seems to be a problem and my laptop did start up much faster, any idea why the software was causing issues?

I can't explain why, but its a common issue. Lets see if the system stays stable after the changes you made.

I'll wait a day or two. The system is known to have HDD issues and Im using a replacement as the system used to stall before and it was stalling a few weeks ago after the replacement drive was installed. Hopefully that was the reason and I won't experience that. I'll keep you posted.

Well bad news, I was watching another video on YouTube while installing a program and it crashed again. I didn't see a blue screen so I can't give the exact error but there was another minidump file geenerated. I reran the DM Log Collector program and I've attached the new file.

An odd one - a 0x124 possibly due by the Avast VM monitor driver.

    Try 2 things:
    1. See if Avast is updated.
    2. If it is updated, and you still get BSOD's, uninstall Avast and replace with MSE.

That's interesting, yeah AVAST is updated. Hopefully I don't get another BSOD because that program has done wonder for me.

Apparently not, I would uninstall it and replace with MSE.

Would MSE give me enough protection? I browse safely enough but I like having a pretty good line of protection and Avast has done at least that very well on my other systems.
