Regular BSOD for past week, multiple probable causes
Hello, I've been on a bit of a journey the past week so I'll try to be brief and organized.
Last Tuesday, I added 2x4 GB of new RAM (same make, manufacturer, GBs, speed, etc. as the old RAM) and hooked up a second monitor (same as old monitor, though due to my GPU's available outputs the old one is on hdmi and the new one is DVI). Since then I have been having regular BSOD crashes, typically after 3-4 hours of consecutive use though on Sunday it managed to go 7 hours without crashing. I have had seven BSOD in the past week. There appears to be no common program causing them, I'll just be watching a movie, playing a game, or doing some typing when the crash will just happen.
For quick reference, the probable causes for each BSOD are listed in the minidumps as follows (from oldest to newest, I only thought to record the Stop data for the two most recent):
dxgmms1.sys
win32k.sys
HDAudBus.sys
ntkrnlmp.exe
atikmdag.sys
tcpip.sys Stop oxoooooo7F
hardware/dxgmms1.sys Stop oxoooooo3D (the minidump listed hardware, the actual BSOD showed dxgmms1.sys as the cause)
Trying to figure things out for myself, I first tried removing the second monitor after the second crash. When that had no effect, I tried updating my GPU's drivers through AMD Catalyst Control Center. Then I ran memtest86 for 10 passes with no errors (I've included a screenshot).
At this point I'm guessing it's a driver problem or something wrong with my GPU, since several of the minidumps seem to point graphics being the issue, but I've never had this much trouble with a computer and I wanted to get some more experienced guidance before I go any further.
Thank you, I appreciate any and all advice on this issue.
