Multiple Daily Driver Crash and BSOD

Hello, I've been getting multiple driver crash per day and got a BSOD once.

I've been using the same Nvidia driver since January, but for some reason it started crashing for the past week. I didn't update anything nor change my hardware. No overclock.

You can find my system specs here:

    Hi Birkhoff.

Update the display driver to the latest WHQL from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers.

When done, stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test. Also let us for any further BSOD.

Hey Arc, I've done a stress test before updating my driver.

    https://i.imgur.com/HnrFUJP.jpg

    No Artifact, crash or BSOD.

I'm pretty sure Nvidia is gonna release a new driver for The Witcher 3 this month, so I'm gonna wait a few more days. There have been lots of complaints about the latest GTA V driver.

Is there anythink else I can do while I wait? It's been crashing even when I'm on desktop doing nothing.

I am using 350.12 WHQL, and have suggested other users to use it, there is no big issue with that driver itself.

I've been able to isolate the problem.

I've fixed driver crashes while gaming by changing nvidia power management mode from "adaptive" to "prefer maximum performance". I can game with no problems now, however, on desktop it still crashes all the time.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my GPU voltage or clock regulator, I've noticed in GPU-Z that my GPU is changing clocks every few second for some reason.

It hardly stays idle again.(324 Mhz), after I exit a game it will constantly switch from 800 to 1k clock, causing crashes.

Will update driver as soon as the witcher 3 driver is out to see if it fixes the issue.

TL;DR: GPU is fine under full load. Crashes when idle.

Can you reset the BIOS to the default settings, just as a test?

       Warning
Before clearing CMOS, boot into the BIOS and check your storage controller mode.

If the PC refuses to boot after resetting CMOS, boot back to BIOS, apply the storage controller mode previously applied before clearing CMOS.

No pay attention to the issue.
First of all, if you havent performed teh suggestin of post #6 yet, do it.

If Clearing CMOS does not change the situation, disable hardware acceleration in Firefox. See how it goes.

If both of them did not help, we will have a very limited options left there.

I've disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox and the crashes stopped, however, my GPU has started showing artifacts a lot.

I guess it's safe to say that the problem has been my GPU and it needs to be replaced right?

The funny thing is that it doesn't show artifacts under load, only when I exit a game.

If you are noticing display artifacts, you may test the situation with any other graphics card.
