Yes my Samsung is in the right port. The port it is in only supports data drives along with my DVD/cd drive. My hdd is in the port for the hard disk drives. So that's in the right place.
My computer doesn't freeze when its in safe mode
If you don't mind reinstalling, I would like you to run something for me. There is always a chance you may have to, but we take every precaution so that does not happen. So far it has never happened to me. Just to be safe, back up any files you may have that you don't want to lose. Create a restore point, the link to do that is below. Do that before you do anything else. If your computer does not freeze in Safe Mode, It is most likely a driver. If you BSOD, don't be too concerned, this test is meant to make your computer BSOD and hopefully catch the offending driver. There are no restrictions. Do anything you want with the computer. Use it as much as possible and run it for 24 hours. If it seems a little slow and sluggish, that is normal. In setting the test up, sort the drivers by provider. Enable all drivers not provided by Microsoft.
WarningBe sure to create a System Restore point before proceeding further System Restore Point - Create
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
Information
What is Driver Verifier:
It puts stress on the drivers, and tries to make the faulty driver crash the computer. It is designed this way, to attempt to trap the offending driver.
What you will notice:
It will tend to make the computer rather slow and sluggish because the drivers are being stressed.
Warning
Before enabling DV, make sure you have created a system restore point before enabling Driver Verifier. make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.
Tip
- If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
- If you cannot boot in Safe mode, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.
Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.
Alright I'll do that tomorrow. It's not an ideal day off but if it means I don't have to get a new computer its well worth it. Thank you for the help tonight.
No problem. I just hope it works. But, if it does not freeze in Safe Mode, it seems it must be a driver or a bad program. In Safe mode Windows only loads drivers necessary for it to run, so I would think the logical explanation is there is a driver it is not loading (non Microsoft Driver) that is causing the problem. The hardware runs anyway. So, that is what I am thinking anyway.
I decided to stay up tonight. I ran a system restore 'affect programs' scan and found that a ton ofbthevprograms had to do with my mouse drivers. Should. What do you think I should do? I use a Razer Naga so there are a ton of drivers in use
it actually seemed to be my mouse drivers and software that were corrupt and upon startup it would try to run and freeze my pc. It is working now. even though it did crash once after 4 hours of being active. i did another scan and it showed no integrity errors. so i am unaware of the problem. we could pursue this too the end if you are up for it! :)
only crashes everyone few hours. and it isnt regular by any means. here is the new DM log. the windows update is still hidden and is not installed.
I ran several of the last few dumps. The were all 0X124 except for 1 which gave no reason. But each one of the 124 gave a different cause.
