    BSOD on Boot 0x00000116

    Hi guys,

Currently trying to troubleshoot my brother's laptop which has a BSOD on startup. It's a Dell Studio 1537 running win 7 which is a couple of years old. Prior to today, he has had no issue with it whatsoever. When booting normally into windows, he gets a BSOD and cannot get even as far as the login screen. Safe mode works fine. Please see attached screenshots/dump files.

I would be very grateful if anyone could advise on how to proceed.

    Many thanks

A stop 0x116 is a display related issue.

Safe mode works fine, because safe mode does not use the display driver, but a vga pnp adapter driver only.

Uninstall the installed display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller. Then try to download and install the latest version of the display driver.

If the issue persists even after doing it, the display adapter may be needed to be replaced.
