Windows 7-64 Bluescreens after Nvidia update, stuck in Safe Mode.

Hello All,

I have a real bear of an issue here. I was recently prompted to update my Nvidia graphics drivers, just as I was shutting down the setting to go to my job. I allowed the drivers to update, and then had the system shutdown instead of restarting after the install process.

When I returned after work and rebooted the system, I was greeted with a BSOD, to the effect of "STOP: 0X00000124 - 0X000000BF8000 0X000000200401" this translated as a hardware issue. I restarted the system in safe mode, and rolled back the drivers. I still received a BSOD on normal startup. Running a driver cleaning utility did not help, neither did a system restore. I ran SFC /Scannow in safe mode, and it stated that there were several corrupt files that it could not repair.

I tested the original video card in another system, and it worked fine. I switched to the on board Intel Graphics hoping that it would work, but it still BSODs in normal mode with that as well, though it (like the Nvidia card) also works fine in safe mode.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

The report is missing the dump files.

Follow Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD to create a small memory dump. And run dm log again after a BSOD.

Check the troubleshooting strategies in Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try until someone experienced looks into your case :)

Edit: Wanted to add - uninstall the Gigabyte software (you will read in that last link but in case you miss it)

OK, I have configured my system to generate a mini-dump file, and I've run the dm log collector again as requested:

Alright, after uninstalling the Gigabyte software, I was able to boot into windows in normal mode, though windows is behaving rather sluggish. Will try running the SFC /Scannow command in normal mode.

Update: Just ran the SFC, here is the log, there are still files that it was unable to repair.
