BSOD Playing games to start, now happening whenever. 0x000000f4

Hi all,

Ok, so I first started getting BSOD a few months ago. It was just once to start off with, then about a month or 2 later I got another one. (it would only happen the once then it would be ok again for x-amount of weeks) I had a look at a few things, but came up with nothing. So I thought I would just see how things went. (I was playing Diablo 3 when it first happened).

After the first few times, (which were a month-ish apart) it started to happen more and more often, but only while playing games like D3 or GTA5.

Now it is happening all the time. Like yesterday for instance, I was just browsing the internet on Chrome and it happen about 3 times before I just gave up.

I have made a copy of my minidump and I have included it in this post. If there is anything else I can provide that would help, just let me know and I will attach it to the thread.
I would really appreciate ANY help at all with this issue.

I did some research on the 0x000000f4 code (which is the code I was getting from the minidump when I checked it using BlueScreen Viewer) but I could not get a solid/straight answer, people were saying all sorts of things.
So I thought my best option was to come here and see if you amazing people could help me.

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Most of your dumps are blaming what could possibly be your hard drive. It may be the SATA cable or port to blame but we'll look at the hard drive/s first.

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

Run chkdsk. Disk Check

Secondly there's mention of memory issues, this could be down to the hard drive issue but to be sure please run the test below.

Download and run MemTest86+ to test your RAM. RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Note

Run MemTest86+ for at least 8 passes. Ideally set it off before you go to bed and leave it overnight, we're looking for zero errors here. A single error will show something's going bad with your RAM.

I see you have IOBit installed, that needs to be removed ASAP. It's an awful piece of software that has seen some people end up reinstalling Windows.

Hi Boozad,

Firstly, I just want to say 'Thank You', for getting back to me so quickly.

I spent the rest of yesterday doing everything you said to try and I'm pleased to say that, so far, it seems to have worked.

The Seagate tool said my WD HDD passed, but my SG HDD had failed. So I selected the 'Fix All' option and it said it had fixed whatever was wrong with it.
The memtest I ran said it found no faults. So I was happy about that.
I also switch the Sata ports that I was using.

After doing everything you suggested, I've not had one BSOD. touch wood lol..

I tried playing my games and doing the things that I would usually encounter a BSOD with, which was basically anything lol.. but as of yet, nothing.
So, I'm hopeful that it has now been fixed.

Thank you so so much, as this was really frustrating me and I thought it was going to cost me money to fix it. Which at the moment I don't have. So I really can't thank you enough.

Kerry I'm glad all sounds well. What I would like you to do though is backup that SG HDD and replace it as soon as possible, if it's dying sort it quickly.
