Need help dianosing BSOD on Thinkpad T60p

    Hi,

I just got my 2nd BSOD on my previously reliable Thinkpad T60p with Windows 7 and a Samsung 830 SSD.

The message is "Hardware Malfunction" ... "NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error"

Couldn't really find anything in the logs nor could I get a minidump file to generate. After the first BSOD I did try running memtest86 for a couple iterations with no error, and also ran chkdsk on startup.

    Attaching zip per instructions.

    Thanks for any insight!

Yeah no dumps to worj with unfortunately, try the steps below.

    1. Open Advanced System Settings
    2. Click on Settings in Startup & Recovery
    3. Make sure both boxes indicated below are checked
    4. In the dropdown box ensure you're set to record Small Memory Dumps

So my startup and recovery settings already looked like that with two exceptions:

    1. Small memory dump says 128KB not 256KB
    2. I didn't have "automatically restart" checked

So I just checked "automatically restart" for next time. Is that likely to actually make a difference in terms of getting the dump file generated?

I'm not sure to be honest, maybe. You don't use CCleaner at all do you? If so don't run it while we need any dump files.

Wait for another BSOD then run the Log Collector again and upload the new logs.

    Nope, I've never used CCleaner.
