USB BUG CODE BSOD while using internet and other random times

I am having some trouble with Blue Screens on my computer. I usually expect at least 1 or 2 blue screens a week. Sometimes less if I play it safe, sometimes more if I'm using my computer a lot. The majority of my blue screens have said USB_BUG_CODE. I can usually count on a blue screen if I have more multiple browsers open or if I run a big program, but it seems the things that cause a blue screen on my computer changes pretty regularly so I'm not sure if something I'm doing is causing it.

I've already tried updating my drivers (I'm not sure if they are actually updated, but my computer says they are updated), and I have selective suspend turned off.

My computer is on it's last legs; my USB ports hardly work, my power supply only charges in certain position and some other issues. Just seeing if there was a simple fix for my blue screens.

Hmm, run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r.
Install the latest updates from Windows Update.

Do the exact same steps for chkdsk /r but instead of typing in sfc /scannow type chkdsk /r.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Thanks for the reply

Ran SFC /scannow 4 times and still came back with errors. So I tried to download the Windows update readiness tool, but I keep getting "Installer encountered an error: 0xc8000247." I get a similar problem when I try to do Windows Update: an error saying that the service isn't running and that I should restart my computer.

Years ago, I took my computer to Tiger Direct to get it fixed after it went out. It turns out my hard drive at died so they fixed it but I since then I've always gotten an occasional pop up saying that my Windows wasn't genuine. I didn't see anything that my computer couldn't do so I just ignored it for 3 years. I guess that's coming back to bite. I will continue to try to go through the steps you provided.

If that is the case, i guess you'll have to re-install Windows because usbport.sys can only be updated via Windows Update.

Alrighty... So I spent the last few days figuring out what I needed to back up, trying to figure out why windows back up didn't work, finding a windows iso, downloading it and installing, then trying to figure out why the internet wasn't working, then downloading the majority of the drivers available on the Sony Vaio website.

Did windows update and it has to install like 400 mb worth of stuff. After all this do I need to do all the sfc and chkdsk stuff again? Or do I just use the computer as normal and see if I still get blue screens?

Use the computer as normal and see if you get any BSODs.

Well, I haven't had any issues with my computer for a week so I'll go ahead and mark this as solved. Thanks for the help!
