BSOD, after regular updates, works fine in safe mode

Hey guys, I have been reading around and posted a bit on reddit and still no solution, although it seems like it should be simple.

2 weeks ago tuesday my work laptop had regularly scheduled windows updates that everyone loves to see right before they shut down. the next day it began with the circle of death after 1-3 min after start up, sometimes upwards of 30 minutes of functionality. but eventually the circle of death comes and i can't click on anything, however the mouse will still function.

i have gone back to every restore point possible and still get the freezing. i have updated/ran MSE in safe mode as well.

It's not a huge deal if I have to reformat, I just really feel like the solution shouldn't be that hard.

    Anyways, thanks for your time.
