    BSOD Playing DOTA2, always error 0x00000007E - atikmdag.sys

    Hi,

    Laptop Config :
    Ideapad Y560
    Intel i3 350M
ATI Radeon HD 5730 (Dual switchable model with Intel Card)

Been playing DOTA2 on my Y560 for more than 2 years, few days back all of a sudden a BSOD occurred while i was ALT+Tabbing from game (first occurrence). After this, every 10+(approx) mins in game, a BSOD occurs.
To my knowledge there weren't any windows update, BIOS/Driver update, haven't done in awhile. Have turned everything to manual update.

During the BSOD, it shows it happened either because of atikmdag.sys/atikmpag.sys

All the threads available were asking to update to latest drivers, but the laptop is a dual graphic card switchable model, those drivers in AMD site won't work (as per the site).

Tried OKR (One key recovery, Lenovo feature, restores back to initial backup) still the problem occurs.

Went for leshcat drivers 14.4_WHQL_UnifL, still the problem occurs (currently installed with same, CCC removed). Now, i get BSOD randomly after logging in.

PFA : Contains the necessary package as instructed in BSOD posting instructions.

EDIT : There weren't any replies, couldn't sit idle, did a system recovery to get initial factory settings, hence the drivers are in older version as compared to previous attached package.

Just had another BSOD, this time while streaming video, and few others while i started DOTA2. This time the cause was different, it was 'atipmdag.sys' not the usual 'atikmdag.sys', also it shows 'SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED' in 'BlueScreenView'. I ran the 'dm_log_collector' again, uploaded, the one with the higher timestamp. Need help, Thanks.

Can anyone please post the error code snippet from the dumps of the package "PONCHY-PC-29-08-2015_210946_48.zip", will try and google-solve the problem. Thank you

    Update :

    * Ran memtest86 for entire night, checking for any issues with RAM, 5 passes and 0 errors found.
    * Plenty of disk space available, that isn't the problem as well.
    * Even the temperature is normal, using cooler master pads.
    * Dismantled the laptop, cleaned and checked for any blockages near the ventilation... none found.
    * Came across a tool in HP forum, Combofix, ran that in safe-mode, it suggested that the services.exe was infected, and fixed it, still BSOD occurs.

On what basis are the mods/supporters helping? when i joined SF, already exists threads with no aid were being concentrated and now i see newly created threads getting help...

this is your display driver, update it here,
    Download Drivers

BTW: the HP forums is not the best if you are running another brand of computer, (a Lenovo in your case.)

Don't think it will work. Drivers available at AMD don't support devices with switchable dual model, its mentioned in the site as well.

I was not checking particularly in the HP forums, was googling the error code, came across some general solutions there, so were just trying. Have posted related to this in Lenovo forums, no proper replies.

Installed drivers from leshcat, the latest ones, still the BSOD were occurring.

Ok mate as Hacb has picked out that atikmdag and what I can suggest is the recommended fix of un installing the Catalyst CC and use only the display driver - do that and then try again.

Let us know what happens you can always reinstall it at a later date anyway.
    Code:

You can run '.symfix; .reload' to try to fix the symbol path and load symbols.
