BSOD before booting Desktop

Hello all,

I am getting the BSOD flash momentarily after the "Starting Windows" screen, before the login or desktop appears.

Since I can't boot to the Desktop or Safe Mode, I don't know how else to run the DM Log Collector.

I tried running Ubuntu Desktop from a flash drive without installing, but get the error from archive manager, "An error occurred while loading the archive".

Is there another method to get the log or find the cause of this blue screen?

Thank You, any help is very much appreciated!

You can try running startup repair (Startup Repair). You may have to run it at least 3 times with attempted reboots in between each time.

You can also try going to C:/windows/Minidump and copy the dump files, ZIP them up and upload them here. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

You can also try doing a System restore to a point in time before this began happening. System Restore

Can you please snap a picture of the BSOD?

Here is an image of the momentarily flashed BSOD.

I suspect it's a driver issue because this is a restored image onto a new laptop with new/different hardware via Acronis Universal Restore, than the hardware the backup was made with. Acronis Universal Restore injects the drivers before first boot. I have downloaded all of the available drivers from the manufacturers website, although Window 8 was the lowest listed. I'm not sure they are backward compatible, with Windows 7?
Is there a program that can run from USB disk, that will tell me the system hardware so I can download drivers for them?

While trying to run the Startup Repair, I am prompted with the error, "This option is not supported on the operating system you've selected." Perhaps the USB boot disk wasn't made correctly?

I booted with Ubuntu, but didn't see any files in the C:/windows/Minidump folder. Is there a command prompt the can be used to copy the directory onto a USB drive?

What operating system came installed on the Laptop? The Version of Windows listed on your COA sticker on the Laptop is what you are going to have to install. If you don't have a copy of your personal files, you can make a copy using the Linux OS you have or any other, or you can use the copy/paste from the recovery console. Why can only the operating system that came with the laptop be installed?

It came with Windows 8.1. Would a clean install of Windows 10 work?

Yes it would.

the only problem you would have is activation. If you install 8.1 and upgrade it with 10 from inside an activated 8.1, it will activate automatically. If you are a registered member of the Insiders program and intend to stay with the insiders program, you can install 10 using the email address you registered with and it should activate that way.

Well, i was thinking about 10 having free license, if that would work and everything would be alright.

Would the reason for this be that perhaps the backup image coming from the other computer is perhaps a legacy BIOS and the BIOS in this computer is UEFI?

Is there no solution to modify the system to make this work?

Couldn't a fresh copy of Windows 7 be done by following this tutorial,
