Dell XPS Intermittent hal.sys 0x124 BSOD

I have been getting these intermittently, especially coming out of sleep mode. I have done extensive tests on the memory, CPU and hard drive using various test programs. I have monitored temperatures and all are below 55 when this occurs. My system is as follows:
    Dell XPS M1730
    T9300 Core 2 Duo
    NVIDA GeForce 8700M
    Samsung SSD 840 Disk Drive
    WDC WD3200BEVT Disk Drive
    Win 7 Enterprise x32

I have followed the instructions and created a ZIP file of the information you requested.

    Thanks in advance

Please use the tool again and upload the zip file.
I cannot read the dump files, this might have a specific reason.

    Bsod xps

    Hello axe0,

I checked the DMP files with "WhoCrashed" to make sure they can be read. These are the latest dumps that have occurred in the last 5-10 days.

Thanks for any help you can offer. This has been consistently occurring.

Please use Prime95 to stress test your CPU.
Please note the temperature of your CPU while under load of Prime95.
If the temperature reaches around 75-82C, stop the test and do the following:
    • clean the heatsink
    • replace the thermal paste properly
    • make sure your cooler is working properly

Downloaded Prime95 and a CPU Temperature Monitor program.

I ran small FFT which stresses mostly the CPU. I ran the test for 2 hours with both cores 100% loaded and the CPU temperatures were as follows:

    CPU Core1- 61 degC
    CPU Core2- 64 degC

    Blend Test Results

I did as you requested. I ran the blend test using prime95 for two hours and received NO errors:

CPU Core 1 Temp- 55 degC
CPU Core 2 Temp- 58 degC

I plan on running it one more time today.

Good, that rules out the CPU.

Because the problem is with a bus and we do not know what bus it is, we need to do more tests to find the cause. The problem with this crash is that the cause could be a lot like the RAM, hard drive, graphics card etc.

       Note
If you are overclocking anything, revert back to stock and test the system

    Diagnostic Test

     RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 7 Forums

       Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

    Diagnostic Test

     HDD TEST

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools - HDD test - Windows 7 Help Forums

       Note
Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.

    Run chkdsk Disk Check

    Diagnostic Test

     GPU TEST

Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. FurMark - GPU Stress Test - Windows 7 Help Forums

       Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.

       Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if overheating occurs.
