Ok mate I live in Parkes NSW and I have no probs with IE the others I have tried in the past and well speed is all I want and in any case how fast can it go I just push a button it's there.

Now the PSU reading you have exactly what I wanted to look at and the volts as you can see are fine - just remember if those volts fall out of 5% of the required volts +or- then the machine will either not function properly if at all. Now if the PSU goes completely sideways then it will mean the self test circuit within it is picking up a fault and will not transmit that signal to pin 8 on the 24 pin socket and therefore no power up - it is a safety feature aimed at protecting the volts to components like the CPU for an example -I you read that link Tomshardware re 101 in my post will explain it.

In PART B: you can pick on any of the components and it will give you very detailed results ie frequencies, volts, memory timings etc etc see my pics for a couple of examples - the mobo one click on the sections within and a vast array of info available

It is a program I keep on each of my machines an it is invaluable and I belong to the forum which is also good

Now it is good that you can see so many hits with SAS as I do even though I run Kaspersky which I swear by MBAM does not pick up many and ADW I use when not sure of the other two especially if SAS comes up nil results as I find it nearly always does. As rough rue of thumb I run SAS on a weekly basis and if the machine is getting slow more often.

Mentioning slow just a by the by if you haven't used this before try some of the tweaks it will surprise you how much better the machine runs although you stand to lose the "bling" like transparency for example

Damn. It's a struggle to just run 720p YouTube videos on my end. NBN cannot come sooner to my area.

Oh yeah, I plan to keep those spyware programs on my PC. Also, here's a screenshot:

Where do we go from here? I'm about to check that Tom's Hardware link. Do I just keep waiting it out for a random BSOD and snap that photo?

Yes well mate NBN is probably the best answer because even the ADSL2 + we get here is so slow after 3pm it isn't funny and dropouts

Yep well click on any of those "sub icons" and the info just keeps coming.

AS for the BSOD yes we shall just have to wait for a BSOD and hopefully it can be captured and just to save scrolling back through the thread these are the tutorials to use but I will run back through and have another look.

    Yep, indeed.

I got all of that configured so I guess we play the waiting game. My PC usually does not create minidumps - even with the right settings configured.

Hmm that is why I asked re the chkdsk now I suppose you have all your data backed up if not maybe now is a good time to do it. I just image using this Imaging with free Macrium as it looking more like a reinstall eh?

Yeah, all of the important stuff is backed up. About to check that program out you suggested, I remember looking at it before when you mentioned it.

Over the years since I've had this PC, I would have at least reinstalled W7 around 10 or so times at this point. I remember back when I did it the last time, I had a clean computer. I had no Steam, no iTunes, no other programs downloaded besides the Nvidia drivers, W7 updates and Firefox. It lasted around 20 days and I got hit with a BSOD.

Yep well I image at least once a week to keep up and you can set it to run auto.

Now I am not an iTunes or anything Apple person and I see my work colleagues and indeed my partner who download stuff al the time whose machines are generally in a bit of a state but not that I ma suggesting that is the problem with yours I just see it so often.

Now I guess it is just trying to track down BSOD's and in a machine that has some years on it it could take some time eh?

Yeah, I'd give it another 10 days until I get hit with a BSOD. I use the PC daily.

It has some years but most of the parts are pretty new. The RAM, PSU, GPU, ect... the only thing I haven't replaced is the mobo and CPU which is i7 2600k - it's still going strong on the newest games out so I don't want to replace that.

Also, I just found two photos on my phone that I had taken earlier this year!

    Just did the test again:

Could it be BIOS related? Like, something not set correctly in the BIOS that is causing the BSOD?
