My computer restarts ONCE every time I turn it on

having exactly the same issue as this post:

My computer restarts once everytime I turn it on

never a blue screen, but 4 days now in a row when i get to the login screen, it just flashes off... and restarts, no color, no description of the error, just powers down as if someone pulled the power cord from the PC. after that little ordeal, the pc boots up just fine.
i have done no hardware updates to this machine
