BSOD when connecting Seagate External Drive

    Hi all,

Starting about a week ago, everytime i connect my Seagate 3tb expansion drive (which is partitioned into 4 equal parts) to any laptop i get a bsod.....

It has mostly movies and other videos on it, the funny thing is that my tv still recognizes and plays all the videos on the different partitions.

I'm unable to do any chkdsk or use Seatools as the laptop blue screens within about a minute or so of connecting the drive.

I have attached the zip with the info from the BSOD sticky, hopefully someone can shed some light on this current problem.

    Hi duckman289,

    Welcome to the 7forums.

Because there is a lot of NTFS activity in the stacks in the most recent dumps, I would strongly recommend to test your hard drive.
    NTFS is the file system.

Seagate for Dos isn't recognizing the external drive, only my internal drive. Can't run chkdsk because everytime i connect the drive the laptop blue screens.

    Any ideas?

Please check your internal drive too if you haven't.

Have you tried in safe mode to connect and scan your external hard drive?
Have you tried to connect the external hard drive to a desktop?

Don't have a desktop, might have to take it to a friends place for that. I've tried to connect the drive while in safe mode and still get bsod.

I'll scan my internal drive now...... I'll post again when it's finished.

    Thanks again axe.....

You could also scan the drive via rescue media.
    Have you tried that?

Tried to use Recuva, but still get bsod about a minute after connecting the drive.... tried safe mode, same problem.

Going to my mate's place on friday, i'll take the drive there and remove the case enclosure and connect it that way..... Other than that, i'm stumped.....

Recuva is a program to recover files, right?

Boot from rescue media, connecties the drive and try to scan it
