Windows 7: 2 separate atikm?ag BSOD errors

Okay, when attempted to uninstall the ATI Catalyst Install Manager I was prompted for what components I wished to remove. I selected ONLY the Catalyst Control Manager from the list, then uninstalled the display driver, then rebooted. The first reboot looked like Safe Mode, but it was only on my desktop for a few seconds before it finished installing a display driver and wanted another reboot.
  1. That next reboot looked normal, size-wise.
  2. I am still missing my external HDD
  3. The display driver that it reinstalled looks just like the old one - AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. Oh wait, that's the Graphics Card, not the driver, right? But that's the item I right-clicked on to uninstall. So did that uninstall the card or the driver? And if it's the card that's listed in Device Manager, how do I know what the driver is?
  4. And speaking of Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus controllers I got nuttin' but yellow triangles, an obvious indication that something ain't right with anything plugged into a USB port.

Yes, that is the graphics adapter {AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250.} the driver would be displayed on the driver tab in the properties, above where the uninstall button was.

Those other items in device manager are what I was pointing out before in your problem devices.

If right click on them and choose update driver does anything get found?

Looking up the device ID's for those items just points to Catalyst for me, I'm curious what this find solutions will find if you run it,

Thanks for the screenshots.

Yeah, the only one that might be helpful here is the HP Software framework, the others I would ignore.

So what do I do about the USB problem? Al 7 items in Device Mgr display the same msg as the last screenshot from my previous post.

Have you tried right clicking on them and seeing if it will update the drivers?

I have to be honest here, that was a driver from HP that started this, that should not have happened.

Something odd is going on, can you also try this,

Attachment 373165

Click that button the arrow is pointing at and see what it finds. It just scans for hardware changes.

I can tell you those are related to your chipset drivers so the CCC may need to be reinstalled, what I find confusing is why did the driver for your model screw up your chipset?

Despite the fact that right-clicking on any of them and selecting Properties and seeing that under the General tab it reads "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". Well, despite that when I right-click and hit update drivers I get the same old message that the best driver is already installed. The configuration information is damaged, but it's the best driver. What sort of Pretzel Logic is that?

That button does absolutely nothing.
Should I be right-clicking every one of those 7 items and uninstalling? And then rebooting?
