    With the DDU tool you provided. I did the uninstall and restart option in safe mode.

    Diagnostics Test

     Clean boot

    Please try the following:
    • Search msconfig and open it
      • Go to the tab services
      • Check 'hide microsoft services'
      • Uncheck all other services

      • Go to the tab startup
      • Disable everything
    • Click apply and click ok
    • Reboot if asked

    See if the problem persist, if the problem does not persist enable in the startup tab in taskmanager 1 item and in the services tab in msconfig also 1 service, reboot and see if the problem persist. Keep doing this until you find the culprit or there is nothing left.
    If the problem still persist, try booting in safe mode and see if the problem still persist

    Already did that yesterday. Tried and it only worked if I booted in safe mode. Therefore I concluded that this is a graphics driver problem.

    The previous instructions weren't exactly 'compatible' with Windows 7.

    Don't know if this will help, but I had the same problem when running Windows 8.1. Here is the forum post from the EightForums: Solved BSOD DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE when unpluging laptop

    I can assure you that the problem is not the same.
    The one of eightforums is a 0x9f{3, ffffe00118f5a880, ffffd000c1869930, ffffe00118f9c010}
    0x3 (Windows XP and later)
    The physical device object (PDO) of the stack
    The functional device object (FDO) of the stack. In Windows 7 and later, this parameter is reserved.
    The blocked IRP
    A device object has been blocking an IRP for too long a time.
    The one here is a 0x1000009F {4, 258, fffffa8006a34040, fffff8000380d740}
    0x4 (Windows Vista and later)
    Time-out value, in seconds.
    The thread currently holding onto the Plug-and-Play (PnP) lock.
    Reserved
    The power state transition timed out waiting to synchronize with the PnP subsystem.
    I am not saying the cause is different.

    Update: Unplugged the laptop and it's working fine no problems!? Now I am really confused as to what is causing the freezing. I have started driver verifier and targeted the intel and nvidia graphics driver. I will keep you notified if a bluescreen occurs.
