    0XC0000142 Error

    Hey there, first post.
Hopefully this is the right place to place this question.

Many times when I shut down my computer I get an error code: 0XC0000142 with a message about PCANUser.exe. It does not always happens, but happens maybe 75% of the time. Any idea what it could be and how I correct it?

Thanks for any help. I'm really liking this forum for Windows 7 better than the official Microsoft one.

the file pcanuser.exe is part of a app read about it here PCANUser.exe (Rawether Non-Admin User Enabler)
the error code is just "the application failed to initialize correctly"

So if you have or had pcanuser. it is the cause

    Hope this helps

    Hey torrentg

The error you're linking to is called "Stop 0x124".
I'm also pretty sure it isn't at all relevant.

Please note the "C" after the 0x in the STOP error.
These are a different class of error.
You can find more info (but not much) on this one here: BSOD Index

As this is a DLL initialization error - I'd guess that it's a problem with a dll used by PCANUser.exe
The starting place for a fix is to uninstall the program associated with PCANUser.exe

If that stops the BSOD's, then that was the cause. Reinstalling a freshly downloaded, Windows 7 compatible copy of the program can be done once the cause is determined.
