My Toshiba laptop has recovered by itself since this "crash"
OEM-OS was installed in 2012 and has become a unstable since trialling "kaspersky Internet Security 2015" in March of this year, 9 months ago.
    - KIS sabotaged/locked-up both my browser PaleMoon and the mail-client (PostBox, Thundbird fork)
    - "PostBox" was uninstalled (Revouninstaller) about 2 weeks ago
    - default browser is PaleMoon BUT links in Metapad36 (text editor) open in Firefox, not PaleMoon
    KIS really screwed my machine
    - within a week I uninstalled KIS and am using Bitdefender IS without any problems.

I suspect this Toshiba is due for a clean install of Win7 Home Premium 32 bit
    Any advice is appreciated

Remove Bitdefender and install Microsoft Security Essentials for testing purposes.

    Run Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU)
Make sure you tick the Uninstall C:/AMD and C:/NIVIDA folders while you are in DDU when you are done running DDU install your graphics driver again. This is the guide for DDU: Display Driver Uninstaller: How to use
