BSOD playing Rocket league - and issues with 360 controller + USB port
Hi everyone.
First, a quick history. I'm using a desktop machine I 'built' in 2013, and hasn't had much use in the last year because I use OS X / Linux for work and school. The past few weeks I've been using it again for games and such, and up until a couple of days ago, things were going swimmingly. There was one issue, though, which was one of the audio jacks started to be buggy, which I don't believe had happened before. I had to hold my headphones in at a certain angle to get the "full" amount of sound to come through. I did a workaround with another port. Otherwise no problems.
Yesterday, I started to get some issues with the machine where when I was in-game (Rocket League), the machine would sometimes freeze up - not BSOD, but the cursor and display would stick. No keyboard input possible. Interestingly, the audio for the game would continue and "loop" properly - the song would continue. I think it did this indefinitely until I force powered off, but I'm not sure. I updated all my drivers (Driver Booster 3) and ran Malwarebytes to see if that would help things - it did not. I play with an xbox 360 controller, and at one point I remember plugging it into a USB port and it instantly freezing, so that seemed like a likely culprit. Seeing as I was starting to go down a rabbit hole, I just decided to reinstall windows. I did so last night without problem, and re-downloaded all my essential program. Mostly innocuous stuff - skype, steam, and so on. Nothing non-essential is on the PC right now. I used Driver Booster 3 again to auto update all my drivers, and also installed some security things (malwarebytes, microsoft security essentials, Spybot S&D).
Now I'm getting some more weird issues. For one, it appears that some of my USB ports are now dead. I try to plug in my wireless wifi adapter into one of them on the front (USB 2.0) and it works, but it is not recognized in the other one (USB 3.0). I know for sure it was recognized before I reinstalled Windows 7 yesterday. Mouses and keyboards don't work in this port either. If I enter Rocket League and play for about a minute with the controller, everything will freeze and I'll get a BSOD - something along the lines of "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from time out failed". Furthermore, sometimes I get the non-BSOD freeze and have to force restart too, in Rocket League. Finally, and this is new, when writing this post I went to do something nondescript in Explorer, and suddenly my Monitor turned off (No Signal), and I wasn't able to do anything about it. Not a physical connection issue. Had to restart.
Oddly, I seem to be able to play on Rocket League with no risk for BSOD without the controller plugged in. Not exactly sure how to test this.
It's sounding like a hardware problem to me, but it'd be nice if it wasn't. But if so, it'd be nice to know what I have to replace.
I've attached the log as instructed, but it might not have the most recent BSOD in there because I've had to force restart 2 or 3 times since the last one (because of freezes or monitor issues). I can recreate on if needed, I think.
Thanks for the help, I'll try to get whatever is requested ASAP.
