BSOD while streaming videos, random shut off

Hi, folks. I could really use some help on how to proceed. I have been having a lot of trouble with my computer suddenly shutting off and the occasional BSOD. Usually I am in the middle of streaming a video on Netflix when it suddenly shuts off. And when I say shuts off it either gets stuck in the middle of the actor talking and freezes and echoes the last syllable the actor spoke or the display will shut off and I can still hear the fans spinning.

I know there is a way to take out one component at a time and power the tower up in order to count the beeps at startup but I would like to avoid doing that until it's absolutely necessary.

At one point I thought it was my power supply trying to go out on me, but then I disregarded that theory because obviously the fans are still spinning so that must mean I still have power. But I read somewhere recently that the power supply can still have enough juice to keep your fans spinning but not enough juice to operate BIOS. I'm not sure if that could be the case. I can get windows to start, but now it is beginning to fail to start.

My system time cannot keep time sometimes. I don't know if this is simply a CMOS battery which is dying or if I should attempt to take the CMOS battery and reset the CMOS. I have no idea where to begin with this. I feel I am a bit out of my depth when it comes to taking components out and troubleshooting, but I am prepared to do that if all else fails.

But I would like to do my due diligence before removing any components.

Any ideas about how I should begin?


Note: I was having trouble using Ccleaner. It kept hanging up at 28%. I noticed that it was hanging at the Firefox internet cache section, so I googled and supposedly it is best if you uncheck Firefox when cleaning your cache and clean the cache separately within Firefox. So I unchecked the Firefox box and then I was able to finish the scan with Ccleaner. I tried to scan the PC with Superantispyware but it never would finish scanning after two hours of scanning. It seems like every time I scan it the computer freezes. I can still see the screen, but there is no animation. So I don't know if I have a virus or what. I am prepared to wipe it if that's what it takes, but I like to exhaust my other options before taking that route.
