    Can the CMOS battery cause BSOD?


    My question is can the bad cmos battery cause bsod
    or system failure?

    I would consider that as unlikely but couldn't be entirely ruled out. If you suspect the battery as being a problem it is easily replaced.

    As the battery controls the Time, it can indirecty effect updates, ergo you could be running out of sync, time discrepancies cause WU and driver updates to fail.

    It could possibly cause problems when the bios is shaking hands with Windows 7 and booting.
