BSOD vmraid.sys IRQL NOT EQUAL

I am getting a BSOD on startup and randomly while running with the error "IRQL NOT EQUAL" and it mentions VMRAID.SYS being the problem. I have tried updating the drivers for the raid from the manufacturer but the problem persists. Any help would be appreciated.

Install the SATA RAID Utility ver:3.3.1540.19 from ASRock > 970 Extreme3

See how it goes. Let us know.

Something interesting here...is it possible that this is an issue that I have multiple RAID controllers? I have the one on the MOBO but also a PCI card to control the CD rom drive. I mention this because I tried booting from the CD and got the same BSOD with the same error.

Yes, you have multiple RAID controllers. VIA and AMD.

Yep. Popped the other RAID card out and things booted fine. Wow.

Just wondering...my mobo doesn't have enough ports to support all my drives. Is there a card I can get or do I have to buy another mobo with more ports?

It will be a better option to get another motherboard .... but either make it sure that your existing processors pins are matching with it or you will need to get a new processor too.

Ugh ok. Well should I just look for another mobo with the same chipset?

Your motherboard has 5 SATA ports. It is nore than enough for most of the users.

If you want to change it, but dont want to replace the processor as well (which is AMD FX 4100 Quad-Core, 3600 Mhz), you have to get a new motherboard that has support for AM3+Socket processors.
