Blue Screen of Death: Physical memory dump, BAD_POOL_HEADER

    Hi,

I've been searching online for days to find a solution for my laptop and most of them haven't been successful. I have an INSPIRON N5110 Dell laptop with Windows 7. A blue screen has popped up in the past and turned off my laptop completely, but it didn't cause any harm. This time, I cannot even get past the logo before the blue screen pops up.

    Here's what it looks like:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    BAD_POOL_HEADER

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical information:

    STOP: 0x00000019 (0x0000000000000022, 0xFFFFFBA000C00000, 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000)

    Collecting data for crash dump...
    Initialising disk for crash dump...
    Beginning dump of physical memory.
Dumping physical memory to disk: 100

That's all I gathered from the blue screen. I also have other information from somewhere else so I hope it helps.

    Problem Signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 2057

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 19
    BCP1: 0000000000000022
    BCP2: FFFFF8A000C00000
    BCP3: 0000000000000001
    BCP4: 0000000000000000

    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 768_1

Unfortunately, safe mode doesn't work anymore. A few days ago, I could access safe mode without any problems but now, it's inaccessible. When it did work, I tried doing system restore, clearing out the hard drive and (although I haven't installed anything recently) tried uninstalling some programs.

Advice and help would be much appreciated, thank you.

    Hi hxlxjx,

    Welcome to the 7forums :)

That is unfortunate to hear that you can't even boot into safe mode, but it gives some indications of possible causes. Please try to run below tests, they are all bootable.
If you have any problem with the tests, please do not hesitate to let me know so we can sort them out :)

    Diagnostic Test

     RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 7 Forums

       Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

    Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.

    Diagnostics Test

     HDD TEST

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use - Windows 7 Help Forums
    Run following tests
    1. Short Drive Self Test
    2. Short generic
    3. Long generic

If the short generic fails, no need for the long generic.

       Note
Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.
