BSOD atikmpag.sys/display driver error upon login - need help

@ICIT2LOL, where do you get those analysis? All dumps are 0x116 which is a grahics crash.

Ok mate and thanks for being so patient - there is a lot of stuff to work through and I am only starting with some rather simplistic if tedious stuff but it just could be a simple as bad RAM stick for example.

Now I say that because when you load the system the RAM has to store what instructions are given it and hold onto that stored info until it is activated ie that sleep mode is deactivated. So by simple logic if the sleep mode is being lost or stored badly then sure the machine is going to kick up because it has bad or incorrect info coming back to work it - as you have set it to.

Look if we cannot come up with something soon I can ask for others to help because really I am no expert and may just be missing something myself. But lets see what the test gives up first.

The preceding ones to the very last had a lot of refs to Eset NOD32 the waking from sleep in the very last dump. But if you can see something I cannot then please chip in. I know the one you are referring to was mentioned but I saw more of the other stuff than that - again if I am looking in the wrong place that is.

You are looking at dumps that aren't relevant anymore.
There is no reason to analyse dumps that are at least 4-5 months old

The AMD drivers are causing BSODs, though a 0x116 has many causes.

• Drivers
• GPU
• Overheating
• Problem with switchable graphics causing a delay with the drivers
• Power
• GPU slot

I would suggest that you check Acer for driver updates, if the most recent drivers are already installed then reinstall them & make sure that your system does not switch between the GPUs while we're troubleshooting. Switching between GPUs can make it difficult to troubleshoot properly.

Yep well I was only going back through them to find anything much different and Eset seemed form the recent ones to way back a common dump. The fact that there might be still reg entries for it had me suspicious sand it proved to be so.

The graphics issues well yes could be heat and for what it is worth there is only one chip that I can find for that model laptop Acer 7750G-6645 Specs - CNET < machine itself and this AMD Radeon HD 7670M - NotebookCheck.net Tech for the graphics. It doesn't look like the graphics is switchable Rax I think it just needs two things to be done and they are find out what the temps are doing and find a driver for the chip.

Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/-
12v = 11.4 – 12.6v
5v = 4.74 – 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3.465v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s

The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel

Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

For the drivers you can use the auto find here Download Drivers or just use the other option to find the driver which just might be this I am not real sure Desktop

Yes axe I am mate that software works for laptops as for desktops only the PSU readout is different when using HW Info on a desktop because then it shows the board rail voltage levels. If the OP scrolls down that listing as per my pic it will come to a section that indicates the current state of the battery for example (see pic of this laptop of mine I am on right now ) and on the way will give temps and frequencies for most of the important components ie CPU but unfortunately not the GPU temps but that can be done I think with Speccy.
