explorer.exe crashes when I stop with the mouse on a photo or image

    Hi.
    I reallyyyy need help.
My explorer.exe crashes each time I stop with the mouse on a photo or image file (and no other type of files). I’ve tried with the touch pad and with external mouse, same thing
In the same way, if I want to upload a photo (as an email attachment for example) as soon as I try to select the photo and the mouse stops on the photo file, Chrome and Internet explorer crash indistinctively. Also if I open paint and try to open a photo as soon as browse opens and I try to select an image, same result…
This happened 7 days ago, on Monday after my laptop installed Sunday night many windows updates and it has been this way since.
So, I’ve already uninstalled the updates, restored my laptop to a previous condition, I’ve done scannow, memory test, clean reboot procedure, Windows Debugdiag tool, Windows’s Wise registry cleaning tool, ShellExView, uninstalling graphic drivers and reinstalling, un-flagged “always show icons never thumbnails”…nothing
Until now I’ve got only generic guides and advices, pretty much to do what I’ve already done above.
I’m attaching my system info file.
I do need to tell you that I bought my laptop 9 months ago os free so I’ve installed everything myself.
(I’m sorry for my English and also if you see in my files some parts written in Italian, I’ll be happy to try to translate them althouh I believe you comprehend the relevant data better than I do).
I hope I’m posting this in the proper section, it regards crashing although I don’t get bsod
I’m not good with this but it causes me severe problems with my job and without technical help, I believe all I can do is apply a previous system image, which I’d rather not do because I’ll need to reinstall all my programs
Thanks in advance, any help needed an appreciated
    Adriana

Review this post: Windows Explorer Crashes when opening Pictures, Downloads, Videos dirs

Upload an explorer crash dump and we will look at it.

    Also try downloading Explorer++ portable:

    https://explorerplusplus.com/

If you extract the files to a new folder then run Explorer++.exe try using it to browse to and open an image. See if it works.

Hi and thank you for such a fast answer.
So, explorer.exe still crashes with explore++ I don't actually get that far as to open an image. It crashes as soon as the mouse stops on the file, like in half a second or less. I can definitely make explorer crash but where do I find the dump file? In my regedit - local machine - software - Microsoft - windows – wer I don’t have a local dump folder.
    Thank you

If Explorer++ has the same problem then I'm not sure that I can fix it.

Anyway to enable explorer crash dumps read this:

    Troubleshooting Explorer.exe Crashing Issues

Download the "Registry Fix" file shown in dark blue text.

Before you do that make sure that Windows Error Reporting Service is enabled as per this post.

    Windows Explorer Crashes on Right-Clicking

Reboot when done then try to crash explorer.

Then look here for the dump: C:\Localdumps

Zip the dump and upload it here.

So, after having installed explorer++ and rebooting things got worse, I no loner saw task bar, icons, just an empty desktop. I’ve managed with explorer++ to restore my pc (from a cd I made months ago) and get that corrupted explorer back (it still crashes when I stop on an image file, same as all week).
I don’t seem to find the proper registry fix (I’ve downloaded free windows registry repair and others like reimage plus but after restarting pc I don’t have a C:\Localdumps folder.
Could you please link the site that has this software (I can’t see the dark blue text, I don’t have adblock activated on your website)? Thank you

RE: Your last post. Explorer++ is portable and does not need to be installed. It should not cause any problems.

Anyway here's the link to RegistryFix to get Explorer Crash Dumps enabled.

    = click to download.

Download the file to your desktop. Right click and choose "Merge"

    Reboot.

Crash explorer then look for the dump in this folder: C:/Localdumps

You can use this to restart explorer when it crashes:

Extract the files to a new folder and inside you will find "rexplorer.exe" - double click to restart explorer when you need to.

Okay your dump indicates that amdocl12cl.dll is responsible. I will try to figure out the name of the program that installed it. It's a shell extension that integrates with explorer.

    Code:
    SYMBOL_STACK_INDEX: 0

    SYMBOL_NAME: amdocl12cl+31d7b

    FOLLOWUP_NAME: MachineOwner

    MODULE_NAME: amdocl12cl

    IMAGE_NAME: amdocl12cl.dll

    DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 56f0040b

    STACK_COMMAND: ~18s; .ecxr ; kb

    FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: INVALID_POINTER_READ_c0000005_amdocl12cl.dll!Unknown

    BUCKET_ID: APPLICATION_FAULT_INVALID_POINTER_READ_amdocl12cl+31d7b
