IASTOR.SYS bluescreens occur randomly

Hi axe0,

I have another workstation giving me BSODs, its random and doesnt seem to be triggered by anything.

Last one i got today happened while i was trying to run DM log collector. I know IASTOR is from the Intel SATA drivers. Would you be able to see what caused it or if a bad SSD drive caused the BSOD? There are 5 drives installed. 4 x Samsung 850 EVO 1TB(storage) and 1 x Samsung 850 EVO 240GB(OS disk).

Im going to remove the other drives and only have the OS disk connected to see if it still occurs.

How many computers do you have that are having BSODs exactly?

The Intel sata drivers that look to be causing the crashes are the chipset drivers.
With only a minidump it is usually impossible to tell if you have a bad SSD or a different problem with certainty. It looks like it is the driver passing a bad memory address (invalid or pageable), but I can't be more specific as that is not possible with the dumps.

What I see is that the Intel drivers are attempting to read to a memory address, but I can't see if the memory from which they attempt to read is valid nor can I see if the memory address which the drivers want to read to is valid (presumably not).

My suggestion is to update the BIOS & the chipset drivers

Thanks, Yea, its very hard to troubleshoot iastor bsods. We have 2 machines. They are both video capture/editing workstations. Ill try troubleshooting the hardware and see if it goes away.

That is quite easy IMHO.

I wouldn't yet go to hardware troubleshooting, first make sure the drivers & BIOS are updated.
