BSOD after installing drivers for AMD Radeon HD 7970M

Hi, I was playing a video game when suddenly my laptop crashed and powered off. After powering in back up again I got BSOD. I reinstalled Windows but ever since, when I install AMD drivers for Radeon HD 7970M upon completion the laptop freezes and I get a blank black screen or BSOD. I have tried using updated drivers and those that came on a disk with my laptop, both crash the laptop.

Today I tried installing AMD drivers again and crashed. I removed the AMD drivers and can use the laptop normally with Intel HD Graphics 4000. Could it be a hardware issue?

Perhaps this file will be more useful.

I created it in Safe Mode after installing AMD drivers. Laptop screen went black during installation with an Underscore flashing in top left corner. Nothing else was happening for minutes

I wanted to bump Art5's post because I have been dealing with the exact problem that he describes here, with the same video card and the same initial cause (game froze and rebooted).

Hoping I can find a solution to this that doesn't involve paying somebody to open up the laptop and take a look at the hardware. So far haven't been able to find any driver-related solution.

Bump, I have the exact same problem. i was starting up a game and all of a sudden my laptop crashed. it will only run on standard intel gfx card now. And i have the exact same laptop. please someone resolve this.

I am suspecting it could be a faulty graphics card though.

Have to bump this as I have the exact same problem as the above three gentlemen. Wondering whether any solution was found? I suspect my HD7970M has died after close to 4 years of use..
