    BSOD error 0x3B (0xC0000005, 0xFFFFF88011162AB1...)

My computer has been running slow after a BSOD that occurred when I was playing Subnautica that happened a few days ago on 8/28/16. My computer suffered from a BSOD a few months ago but I was able to solve it and get it working back to normal. But now I cant seem to figure out this problem. My CPU has been running at a high usage, sometimes 50%+ just sitting idle, going up to 100% watching videos or opening a few tabs on Chrome, and the computer can't play any games anymore as they drop down to >10fps and/or crash.

I ran WhoCrashed and it gave me these results back:

On Sun 8/28/2016 9:47:23 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\082816-24195-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: atikmdag.sys (atikmdag+0x15EAB1)
    Bugcheck code: 0x3B (0xC0000005, 0xFFFFF88011162AB1, 0xFFFFF88002AD7750, 0x0)
    Error: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys
    product: ATI Radeon Family
    company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
description: ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmdag.sys (ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.).

It looks like the ATI driver or the atikmdag.sys is the problem? I have looked online about updating ATI drivers, but I can't find any information about that or a place to download them from amd's website. I have tried updating the graphic card drivers and others to the latest versions. I have run a few programs trying to pinpoint the problem, such as chkdsk, and I have scanned my PC with Microsoft Security Essentials and no viruses, etc. popped up. Let me know if there is any other information that I should provide if needed. Any programs that I should download that will help or any information on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hello Hylander650 and welcome to 7forums! :)

Please use the DMLC tool one more time, it seems that it didn't collect all necessary information:

Thank you for the reply :) I just re-uploaded the DMLC again, I hope it collected all the necessary information this time.

Sorry it still seems to be only half of the needed files.

Are you sure you are running it as it says in the tutorial?

I've been following the instructions from the link. First I downloaded, then saved the file to my desktop, then double clicked the file, a prompt appears and asks to run the file, I clicked run. The DMCL Tool opens and it says press any key to continue so I did, then I waited for it to finish and create the zip file and then I uploaded it on here. When it runs it says done or completed through the whole checklist, it doesn't look like anything didn't work.

I checked out another .zip file from the forum made by the DMCL Tool and mine does contain half, like you said. I have run the DMCL Tool a few more times, and some .zip files would contain more information than the one I posted here, farthest one stopped at the ipconfig.txt. The other .zip had a lot more .dmp files, while mine only has the 1 .dmp file from the day of the crash so I'm guessing the other ones from previous crashes got erased somewhere along the line but I have no clue why it will only copy up to a certain file, cause another stopped at the installed.txt or dxdiag.txt like the one I uploaded...

Could the problem be that I have the SF Diagnostic Tool also installed? I downloaded that program last time I had the BSOD a few months ago, but I got it working before I needed to use it. I opened the SF Diagnostic Tool and it lists some of the files missing from my .zip that were included in the other one I looked at, MSInfo32, System Info, and Update log.

No problem, any help is appreciated :) I just tried clicking the link and it says "you do not have permission to access this page" and lists some reasons, like page might be removed, or not sufficient privileges.

Hmmm. It's still not collecting all the required files, ran it twice and the .zips only contained up to .dxdiag both times. I uploaded another .zip that got the most files from the DMCL and a .zip file from the SF Diagnostic Tool, because it contains some files that were missing from the DMCL. I have no clue why it's not collecting everything.

Hi, thanks for uploading and being patient.

Well it sure was the atikmdag.sys that was the culprit. Now the easiest way to deal with this problem is to install DDU:

    Display Driver Uninstaller

Once installed, it is recommended to boot into Safe Mode while running it, for more information about Safe Mode, please have a look here:

Safe Mode - Windows 7 Help Forums

And once you are in Safe Mode you can launch DDU, now you should see a window like this:

Please use the highlighted method "Clean and Restart".

When that is done and you have rebooted back into Windows, please visit the AMD Support Download page located here:

    Download AMD Drivers

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

    Cheers, Boris :)
